This program embraces all substance and behavioral addiction, including sex and porn addiction. It is based on the premise that the true drug of addiction is stimulation and that the brain seeks what provides that stimulation and that becomes the drug of choice, whether it is gambling, sugar, cocaine, or a sexual behavior. In short, sex addiction is about addiction, not sex.

However, sexual behaviors that become the addict brain’s drug of choice do present some unique treatment challenges and these are explored in depth.

This program includes content that will prepare students to practice with a high degree of competence and expertise that will meet ethical guidelines in all disciplines.

Students will attend classes one Friday per month for a year and will also complete independent study assignments including viewing videos, attending 12-Step meetings, and writing treatment plans.

Behavioral & Substance Addiction Therapy Program may also be taken individually for certification separate from the PhD program. ATTI offers a 10-month program, with 6-hour classes held one Friday per month. Participants will also need to complete hours of independent study work for a combined total of 161 educational hours. This program has open enrollment so students may begin at any time.

This program offers 161 hours of training to licensed individuals who want to be FCB-certified as Certified Addictions Professionals and/or TCA Certified Addictions Therapists. Addictions Therapy Training Institute (ATTI) is the approved provider for the Florida Certification Board #5094-A. All students who complete the program will be TCA certified.

If you are from another state, your state may accept the FCB-approved education towards certification. Check with your state to see if the ATTI program will allow you to become certified.

All classes may be taken via live webinar. If a student is unable to attend all classes, the video recording may be watched and a summary submitted for credit. This program is not intended to be a Home Study, so this option is limited to one class.

Licensed Therapists need only 161 additional hours of training in order to take the FCB written exam to become certified. They will need to complete all homework assignments for credit. There are no work requirements.

This program will fully prepare you to incorporate addictions therapy into your practice. For those professionals not yet licensed but are in a graduate program, there is the option to take this program and take the CAP exam with 4,000 hours of supervised work experience.
